- Sep 6, 2026
SEOTechTests methodology: Data source: a live AbuseIPDB query for the domain's resolved IP, the same provider as the dedicated AbuseIPDB checker but filed under infrastructure history rather than spam/abuse. UNKNOWN when the API key isn't configured or the lookup fails.
Standards and vendor-documented behavior can change. This reflects the source as last reviewed above, not a permanent guarantee.
FAQ
How is this different from the AbuseIPDB checker in the Spam & Abuse group?
Both query the same AbuseIPDB data for the resolved IP; this one is grouped under Domain & Infrastructure History since it's treated here as a property of the hosting infrastructure rather than a direct spam/abuse finding about the domain itself.
Why does the hosting IP's abuse history matter for infrastructure history?
A pattern of abuse reports against the IP over time can reflect the general trustworthiness of the hosting environment a domain has chosen, distinct from anything the domain's own content has done.
Does a bad IP reputation mean this domain is responsible for the abuse?
Not necessarily -- on shared hosting, reports can be tied to a different tenant on the same IP, past or present, not this specific domain.
Why can this check return UNKNOWN?
It needs a configured AbuseIPDB key and a resolvable IP; either missing, or a failed/timed-out request, results in UNKNOWN rather than an assumed-clean PASS.
